Privacy Policy

Kim Wormley dba Sportsball Games ("we," "our," or "us") operates www.joinsportsball.com and the Sportsball mobile app (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and disclose information. It works with our Terms of Service.

Notice at collection (California)

This notice is provided at or before we collect personal information, as required for California residents.

Categories we collect

• Identifiers: email, display name or handle, optional real name, account ids
• Commercial information: host-fee purchase confirmation (not full card numbers); prize shipping address when you claim a Sportsball prize
• Internet or other electronic network activity: pages and features used, device and browser type, crash reports, session replay of product UI
• Approximate location: IP-derived general location (not precise geolocation)
• Gameplay information: games joined or created, picks, scores, jelly beans, host-only display names

How we use it

We use these categories to operate the Service, authenticate accounts, run games and leagues, send email and push notifications you allow, process host payments and prize fulfillment, provide support, improve security, and analyze usage (unless you opt out of analytics in Settings). See the sections below for detail.

Retention

We keep personal information while your account is active and as needed for legal obligations. We do not assign different retention periods to each category.

We do not seek CPRA sensitive personal information—such as Social Security numbers, precise geolocation, biometric data, or racial or ethnic origin—and we do not ask you to provide it.

1. Information we collect

1.1 Account information (identifiers)

• Email address: required to create a signed-in account (Google, Apple, or email link)
• Display name / handle, avatar, optional real name

Guest web play (for example claiming a square with initials) does not require an email. The mobile app requires a signed-in account.

1.2 Game activity (gameplay information)

• Games you create or join, picks, scores, standings
• Jelly bean balances and transactions
• Host-only display names you provide so a private-game host can recognize you

1.3 Usage and diagnostics (internet activity; approximate location)

• Pages and features used, approximate time, device and browser type
• IP address and general location derived from it
• Crash and error reports via Sentry (we do not use this to show ads)
• Session replay via Sentry on most sessions: screens and clicks, so we can find bugs and improve product flow. Values you type in form fields are masked. Email addresses and shipping addresses shown on screen are masked. Visible product UI (buttons, picks, scores, handles, game names, catalog avatars) may appear in the recording. We do not use replays for ads. Turn this off with Analytics in Settings.

1.4 Purchases (commercial information)

Host fees: Stripe (web) or Apple / Google (mobile IAP). We receive purchase confirmation, not full card numbers.

1.5 Prize claims (commercial information)

If you win a Sportsball-awarded prize, we collect a shipping address. See Prize Rules.

2. How we use information

• Operate accounts, games, scoring, and leaderboards
• Send sign-in links, league operational email, and (unless you opt out) marketing email
• Push notifications if you enable them
• Customer support and security
• Improve the Service (Firebase Analytics and Sentry session replay unless you opt out in Settings)
• Process host payments and prize fulfillment
• Disclose your email to the host of a private game you join while signed in (see §4)

3. Third-party processors

• Firebase (Google): authentication, Firestore, Cloud Messaging, Analytics — privacy
• Resend: transactional and marketing email
• Stripe: web host payments
• Apple / Google: Sign in with Apple, Play Billing, IAP
• Sentry: error monitoring and session replay

4. What other users can see

4.1 Everyone in a game

• Handle, avatar, picks, scores, standings

4.2 Private-game hosts

If you join a private game or league while signed in, that game's host can see your email on the in-app roster and may copy or export it to operate the game. This is a condition of joining that game while signed in; there is no join-but-hide-email mode. We disclose this in-product when you join. Hosts agree to our Host Terms.

4.3 Public global challenges and guests

Public global challenges are hosted by Sportsball; we do not give your email to other players. Guests who never sign in have no email address for us or other users to see.

5. Do not sell or share

We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as the CPRA uses "share."

Disclosing your email to the host of a private game you join is a directed disclosure so they can run that game—not a sale and not an advertising share.

You can opt out of Firebase Analytics and Sentry session replay in Settings (one Analytics toggle). We do not offer a toggle that hides your email from a private-game host.

6. Cookies and similar technology

We use first-party cookies and similar storage needed to run the Service (session, home-shell preference). We do not show a third-party cookie-consent wall on every page. Firebase Analytics and Sentry may set their own identifiers. You can disable analytics and session replay in Settings and control cookies in your browser.

7. Email we send

• Transactional: sign-in links, prize claims
• League operational: week open, reminders, results for private leagues you belong to (disable in Settings)
• Marketing: events, newsletter, promotional — opt out in Settings or via unsubscribe in the email

Mail a host sends from their own inbox after an export is not Sportsball email.

8. Security and retention

We use HTTPS, Firebase authentication, and access controls. No method is 100% secure.

We keep account data while the account is active and as needed for legal obligations. Delete your account in Settings or contact privacy@joinsportsball.com.

9. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Sign-in requires a 13+ attestation. Hosting a private game and claiming a Sportsball-sponsored prize require 18+. We do not collect date of birth.

10. Your rights

• Access, correct, or delete your account
• Opt out of marketing and analytics
• Disable push notifications on the device

California residents have rights to know, delete, correct, and non-discrimination, and to limit use of sensitive personal information (we do not seek that category of information). Exercise these rights in Settings or by contacting privacy@joinsportsball.com. We do not sell personal information.

11. International users

The Service is operated in the United States. Information may be processed in the United States.

12. Changes

We will post updates on this page. Material changes require a new in-product acknowledgment (clickwrap) before you continue with a signed-in account.
